PRESIDENT & CEO

John McCauley co-founded Virginia Commercial Finance in 1994 and continues to serve as the President & CEO. John helps local businesses grow in many ways. He serves on the board of directors of the Commercial Finance Association and numerous other businesses. He also participates on several advisory boards. John is an Associate Member of the Virginia Bankers Association. In addition, he is on the board of Maymont Foundation and also supports the 150 year old Children’s Home Society, which provides child adoption services. Previously, he served on the board of the Business Workout Council, an educational and networking forum of business professionals in the central Virginia market, and the National Kidney Foundation of Virginia, Inc. and has volunteered his services for the Virginia Special Olympics.

John, like all of us, is first and foremost committed to his family. He and his wife have been married for 25 years and have two daughters. He previously served as Director of the Weaver Athletic Association, in which both of his daughters have played softball. John coached Fast Pitch softball for 10 years at both High School and Travel Ball levels. He also enjoys spending time with his four-legged sons, Rocky, Wilson and Cooper.

John earned his Business Administration Degree at Old Dominion University, is a former CPA, and worked with Deloitte & Touche CPA’s before entering banking. John has over 30 years of commercial lending experience, including a 10 year career with 2 large Asset Based lending banks before co-founding VCF.

Eric GillEric Gill

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
& CHIEF CREDIT OFFICER

Eric Gill has over 36 years of experience in the commercial lending arena. He has gained experience as a Field Examiner, Field Exam Manager, Credit Underwriter, Relationship Manager, and New Business Development Officer. In his role as Chief Credit Officer for VCF, Eric is responsible for the overall credit quality of our client portfolio, reviewing both client and new business field exams, and the credit underwriting for new business opportunities.

Eric has accumulated a wide perspective on commercial loans while working for several of the leading Commercial Lending organizations and Banks in the Eastern U.S. He has gained a thorough knowledge of Asset Based Lending, A/R financing, and Purchase Order Financing. He also has a wide knowledge of numerous business segments acquired through the review and analysis of thousands of corporate financial statements, business plans and interaction with business owners. Market expertise with manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, service providers, health care, and eCommerce provide Eric with a solid base to review new business opportunities and provide valuable insight to VCF’s customer base. Throughout his career, Eric has broadened his knowledge of the lending market through his involvement with the Commercial Finance Association and the Turnaround Management Association.

Eric is very involved with the High School youth in his area, having served as the Construction Coordinator for annual Mission Trips for the past 16 years. He continually gives back to his community serving as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Room In The Inn. His favorite leisure activity is playing golf.

Eric graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He and his wife live in Charlotte and have two daughters, one who also lives in Charlotte, and the other in London.

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Diana Barden serves as our Chief Operating Officer. She directs process improvement, streamlines workflow and implements best practices. Diana is responsible for VCF’s Marketing efforts and assists teammates with communications. In addition, her role encompasses the new borrower closing process and on-boarding, Human Resources, employee Training and Development and VCF’s culture.

Prior to joining VCF, Diana had a wide variety of opportunities. After 13 years with Dominion Virginia Power as a Senior Planning and Budget Analyst, Director of Personnel Services and an Employee Relations Consultant, she went out on her own. She worked as a consultant to several local businesses, owned her own business and worked for several non-profits including the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education, Richmond Volleyball and Verlander Book. Most recently, Diana worked at VCU Health as an Associate Administrator in the Department of Surgery.

Giving back to her community is very important to Diana and she has volunteered as a Board member and officer in addition to serving on many teams. A few of her organizations are NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, Commonwealth Parenting, and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Diana earned her BBA in Finance from James Madison University. Continuing her education, she has received a Fundraising and Development Certificate as well as a Non-profit Marketing Certificate from the University of Richmond, School of Continuing Studies. Diana was a member of The Grace Harris Leadership class of 2014 at Virginia Commonwealth University. She and her husband have three boys. The oldest is serving as a Second Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps. Her twins are attending William and Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Brad_HartBrad Hart

Controller

Brad Hart has over 14 years at Virginia Commercial Finance with experience in all facets of the business. He has served in a multiple of capacities, including Process Improvement, Account Management, Collateral Examinations, Operations Support, Information Technology Support, Web Development, and Marketing. In his current role as Head of Loan Accounting, Brad is responsible for the daily reconciliation of cash and treasury services, as well as daily accounting and monthly financial reporting.

Brad was first hired at VCF to develop its internal proprietary systems. He had previously worked as an Information Management Consultant for Science Applications International Corporation, providing consulting on information and process Improvement for various, diverse companies and government agencies. He developed systems, reporting applications, and optimization tools to greatly improve efficiencies for his clients. At VCF, he has developed loan accounting, business development, exam management, and human resource systems to enhance automation and process improvement in the firm. He was also instrumental in developing their customer online reporting and the web-based Bank Partner Platform.

Brad earned both his Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Business Administration at Brigham Young University with a minor in Spanish and an emphasis in Information Management.

Brad’s interests outside of the firm include a variety of outdoor activities, including tennis, volleyball, camping, hiking, kayaking, biking, and traveling. His travels include destinations such as Quebec, Mexico, Hawaii, Chile, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Aruba, and the Bahamas. Brad enjoys studying geography and speaks fluent Spanish.
