PRESIDENT & CEO

John McCauley co-founded Virginia Commercial Finance in 1994 and continues to serve as the President & CEO. John helps local businesses grow in many ways. He serves on the board of directors of the Commercial Finance Association and numerous other businesses. He also participates on several advisory boards. John is an Associate Member of the Virginia Bankers Association. In addition, he is on the board of Maymont Foundation and also supports the 150 year old Children’s Home Society, which provides child adoption services. Previously, he served on the board of the Business Workout Council, an educational and networking forum of business professionals in the central Virginia market, and the National Kidney Foundation of Virginia, Inc. and has volunteered his services for the Virginia Special Olympics.

John, like all of us, is first and foremost committed to his family. He and his wife have been married for 25 years and have two daughters. He previously served as Director of the Weaver Athletic Association, in which both of his daughters have played softball. John coached Fast Pitch softball for 10 years at both High School and Travel Ball levels. He also enjoys spending time with his four-legged sons, Rocky, Wilson and Cooper.

John earned his Business Administration Degree at Old Dominion University, is a former CPA, and worked with Deloitte & Touche CPA’s before entering banking. John has over 30 years of commercial lending experience, including a 10 year career with 2 large Asset Based lending banks before co-founding VCF.

Luke Swygard

Vice President Business Development and Account Management

Luke Swygard serves both the Business Development and Account Management departments at VCF by assisting in communications with prospective and current borrowers. In his business development role, he is responsible for working with new customers in understanding and articulating their financing needs while also working with the underwriting team to customize credit facilities that meet and support client expectations. As Account Manager, he is the conduit of communication from the customer to the Loan Administration department where the monitoring and servicing of the account is done. His role also encompasses coordinating the provision of collateral exam and monitoring services to the surrounding banking community on certain commercial and industrial loans.

Prior to joining VCF in 2016, Luke served the small and middle market community in originating and consulting on qualified plan design and executive benefits along with private wealth management and insurance planning services for business owners. In his early years he worked with NVR, Ryan Homes as a Project Manager and Senior Sales Representative before moving to Northwestern Mutual as a Wealth Advisor. In both organizations, Luke received numerous awards for customer service and sales achievement.

Making a difference in others’ lives is Luke’s primary motivation. He has recently served as Board Chairman at STEP (Strategies To Elevate People), he has volunteered his time at JFL (Jobs For Life) as an instructor, and he currently coaches middle school boys’ basketball with the Cap City Warriors.

Luke graduated with a B.S. degree in Marketing and Business Management from Grove City College. He is also a graduate of the Richmond Christian Leadership Institute. He is passionate about spending time with his wife and two boys. Most days you can find him in a gym or on a ball field coaching or supporting his sons in their athletic endeavors.

Brad_HartBrad Hart

Vice President Loan Accounting

Brad Hart has over 16 years at Virginia Commercial Finance with experience in all facets of the business. He has served in a multiple of capacities, including Process Improvement, Account Management, Collateral Examinations, Operations Support, Information Technology Support, Web Development, and Marketing. In his current role as Head of Loan Accounting, Brad is responsible for the daily reconciliation of cash and treasury services, as well as daily accounting and monthly financial reporting.

Brad was first hired at VCF to develop its internal proprietary systems. He had previously worked as an Information Management Consultant for Science Applications International Corporation, providing consulting on information and process Improvement for various, diverse companies and government agencies. He developed systems, reporting applications, and optimization tools to greatly improve efficiencies for his clients. At VCF, he has developed loan accounting, business development, exam management, and human resource systems to enhance automation and process improvement in the firm. He was also instrumental in developing their customer online reporting and the web-based Bank Partner Platform.

Brad earned both his Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Business Administration at Brigham Young University with a minor in Spanish and an emphasis in Information Management.

Brad’s interests outside of the firm include a variety of outdoor activities, including tennis, volleyball, camping, hiking, kayaking, biking, and traveling. His travels include destinations such as Montreal, Quebec, Mexico, Hawaii, Chile, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Colombia, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Aruba, and the Bahamas. Brad enjoys studying geography and speaks fluent Spanish.
